I would agree that putting further strain on the NATO alliance would be the biggest payoff for Putin. The additional revenues might give him a temporary shot in the arm, but it won’t carry him for very long. Iran won’t be democratized if Trump gets his way. He wants a compliant, corrupt autocrat like he has in Venezuela. Ditto for Cuba.
